I've been setting up props and basically getting myself organised as alot of the pictures ive to take have to be set up properly.I painted some pebbles diferent colours and spread them around the ground outside, got an interesting picture with a birds carcus. . .
Made some fake flowers of different colours, very childlike and decorated my grey patio, worked out pretty well.I'm starting small to see what works and i'm going to get bigger set ups as I progress hopefully.Painted my hand red and left an interesting handprint in limerick,so look out for that.hoping to work with photoshop soon and in the middle of organising more scenes this evening.

First Blog

I've stuck with my original idea with wanting to project a certain image of Limerick. A positive and fun reflective of limerick city maybe and this is what i've been working on so far.At first i was interested in people as they are so interesting on many different levels;style, personality, thier lives, and everyday routines etc. .
I spent days taking picture after picture, from buskers to complete strangers, young stylish girls and everyday workers.I then started getting really interested in how people work and make a living. So even more pictures were taken,I went to the milk markets monthly craft fair and focused on people and their skills;bakers, designers, artists, silversmiths etc.
After looking at the images i got far more interested in colour and how it seemed to make my images far more interesting, for example;an orange balloon, blue contact lenses, vivid red pants and so on.
I then began researching colour in the city and came up with a variety of images, one of my favorites being of a vividly coloured washing line against a dull city background. From this i set up my own washing line and drew image after image. I didnt want still life drawings but wanted to turn something personal like a washing line full of clothes into something made of shape form and colour.
I drew with chalks, paints.splash paints to fingerpainting. It was the simplicity of the finger paints that i really enjoyed and how by using such a childlike activity the project got far more interesting it gave me the idea of how i could make the city fun by using something so simple.
My project is now based on setting up props around the city to create a series of different images showcasing dull city life in limerick.
